Seems to me it is a lot of work. Like just put it in the attachment box and then the ones that want to look at it can. The rest that don't want to look at then don't have to wait for the picture. But why would anyone post a pic figuring someone would not want to look at it.

Ok Im Rambling

Murph,
I bought my 1720 with the 7108 loader last March for $8000.00
The tractor had 586 hours on it and was in great condition. The bucket on the loader was banged up a little but nothing major.

I saw it sitting on a dealers lot and the salesman came out and asked me if I was interested. I told him yes and he asked me to make an offer. I said $8000.00 and he said he would check with the owner. He came back and said OK ! I was shocked. I didn't think they would take it but the timing was right for them to sell it and I was ready to buy. The salesman later told me they had 7800.00 in the tractor. I felt and feel very lucky to get it. Good luck to your dad. He won't be disappointed with the 1720.

Just this week I sold my NH 1920 w 420 hrs and a 7308 loader for $13,500. I was pretty happy with the deal if that helps you any.

Now that you sold your rig and got a good price for it, what are you going to do?

Motorjock, I sent you the dealer info for that TN75 on a private post. Let me know if you didn't get it. Have you bought or still lookin'?

Murph:

If the "something special on the bucket" is either a 4n1 bucket or a skid steer quick attach system, it would add quite a bit to the value and utility. I paid about $9500 for my 1520 with a 4n1 bucket and bucket forks about a year ago. It had about 700 hours on it, but the paint was rough from being stored outside.

Since the 1720 is larger, and if the loader is new and has either the 4n1 or quick attach system, $10,500 sounds like a reasonable price. The 1720 would be about equivalent to the TC25 or TC29/30, which would be $15K + new. However, I know how irritating it is when the price changes upward while you are deciding whether to pay the original price. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Cas,

I am thinking it is the 4 in 1 bucket. Dad is going to go look at it again this weekend. I told him everyone was saying it was not a bad price. If the dealer would take his Ford 861 in on trade I think he would jump at it. I told him he should not have any trouble selling that 861 and probably even get more for it if he sells it himself.

I really like my 4 in 1 bucket. If I ever buy another tractor, it will have one. I can use the jaws to grab stuff that won't fit in the bucket or would be a pain to have to wrap a chain around, like railroad ties, logs, stumps, etc. The attached picture shows using it to lift logs above the snow while cutting firewood - easier on the back of the sawyer and easier on chains. The dozer feature is also handy, even if you can't angle it like a snow plow. Not sure what your Dad will use the tractor for other than driving on the beach, but I am sure he would find the 4 in 1 bucket handy, if that is what it is. Let us know what he finds out.

Cas,

I sure like the color of that tractor. I have a 7308 New Holland loader. I know I can add a bucket like that but I have two questions. How much for a bucket like that and do I need an auxillary hydraulic line for it. The auxillare line I want to get anyway so that isn't a big deal. Also I am sure I can't convert my existing bucket.

Murph-
Since my tractor already had the 4 in 1 on it, I am not sure what is involved to add it. I know there is a separate control valve mounted below the joystick for the other bucket functions (perhaps a "power beyond" situation?). Then there are hydraulic lines running forward to the two pistons that operate the jaws of the bucket.

I think I have seen ads for Long (brand) 4 in 1 buckets. I know Carter offers them, and I am sure others could order and install them, but I have no real idea what they cost. You might run a search on 4 in 1 buckets. I know they have been discussed in other threads.

I also know, that even if it added $2000-3000 to the cost of a new tractor, I would add it because I have found it so useful. I would probably also try to add a skid steer type quick attach system that would allow me to easily switch to other buckets, forks or a grapple for handling brush. The 4 in 1 doesn't handle liquids well, cause they leak out the bottom, but I have had no problem with anything else I have used it on.
