Tractor for Dad

While back I posted a thread, tires for dad. Well I think we convinced my dad that the Ag tires would work just fine for on the sand, my question is the pricing on a 1998 Ford 1720. It is 4 wheel drive and has a brand new loader on it. I believe it to be the Ford New Holland Loader, but he did say there was something special on the bucket?? But he couldn't explain it to me. It has 800 hours on it and they originally told him 7,500 which I thought was a good deal but now they are saying 10,500.00 Not so sure that is a good deal anymore. Send you thoughts.

I don't know the value of that particular model WITH loader but it doesn't seem like an unreasonable price, depending on true physical and mechanical condition.
What would concern me is the drastic jump from $7,500 to $10,500. Unless they can adequatly and honestly justify the additional $3000 (might be the new loader ) but, If the loader was on it when the original price was quoted, I would hold them to there original price or start seriously questioning there ethics.
Only you ! can tell by your gut instinct if the dealer is being straight forward and honest with you.
I think that $7,500 for a 5 yr old machine with 800 hours and new loader is a steal. Even at $10,500 I think it is a fair deal. Assuming it is in good clean sound condition.

It did have the loader on it at the time. And I am questioning why the change in price. My dad should have bought the thing right there. But I guess at his age he is cautious. He tends to worry more about how much he is going to leave his kids in life rather than to have fun with what's left of his. I would rather see him have fun.

But now that the tractor is 10,500.00 I think he will back out.

My good condition 700 hour 1997 NH 1920 with no loader was 9500 plus about 250 for the cannopy.

Not sure what the loader is worth....

The loader for my TC29D ran about $2500 brand new with the tractor. Now I was told in another post of a guy that did some searching for that same loader and the best he could come up with was $4500. This was because it was aftermarket. It still seems like there is too much of a difference there.

MY 2000 NH 1920 with 7308 loader and 758C backhoe that had 72 hours on it was $17,000 in Jan. 2002. Hope this helps, Bill C

I drive by caldwells a few times a week and have seen that 1720.... looks sweet.

( I'm not affiliated in any way with him.. I just drive by and oogle tractors on the side of the road whenever I can! )
