Saw an old guy boil eggs in a little basket inside the large radiator cap on a steel wheeled Fordson. He said it was common practice "back in the day". Pretty sure they didn't have antifreeze ,just water in the the cooling system.
Can relate to the blown Beanie Weenie can experience [D6R].

When we drove across country in the summer of '74 we had a '69 Plymouth Valiant, slant 6.

We used to cook our meals (hot dogs, chicken) on 100 miles plus trips.

Didn't get hot enough otherwise.

not a tractor, but when I worked at the old drive inn theater years ago, I would stop a pizza hut and get spaghetti to go in the tin foil holders. it would set and cool while I was getting film ready and waiting for dark. we had the carbon arc lamps and our preview reel was about 15 min so I would slide my supper in the bottom of the lamp and start the show. always had a hot supper in 15 or 20 min when movie started.:thumbsup:
one night i forgot it and it got rather crispy.

When I was a kid, my Dad bought a Jeep CJ5, and got on the Jeep mailing list. They had a little magazin, I think it came out quaterly.

That magazine had tips and recipes for cooking on the engine. Tips, tricks, general time required etc.

I remember those, from '72-'76 or so.

Went deep sea fishing out of South Padre Is., TX and the deck hands caught a shark on the way out. They put several large fillets in foil with lemon, salt and pepper. Layed them on a rack above the twin - diesel manifolds and turned every 20 - 30 min. WOW - what a hot lunch everyone had. Won't ever forget it. Never had better!
