Kioti DK55 w/loader...After sitting for a day or two, it will crank but sputters and goes dead. It will re-crank & sputter some more - and eventually run fine, once cranked. If cranked again same day, no problems. Seems to be worse with time. It started the day after I WD-40'd the throttle cable under the hood. I don't think that had anything to do with it, but some extra info. Sounds like it is not getting fuel somehow - but does fine once it's running. I haven't noticed a leak anywhere. Seems like it's maybe leaking down somewhere over time?

Anybody with any ideas, please let me know...Thank you...

How many hours?? I would be looking for an air leak in a fuel hose, or fuel line that is not snugged up. I think you are on the right track of what to look for, just got to find it.

When you say crank and sputter is it bellowing out white smoke?
If it is white smoke I would be looking at a glow plug issue.

If not when was the last time you changed your fuel filter?

Check and make sure all the fuel lines from the injector pump to the nozzles, and from the fuel pump to the injector pump are tight. It could be a very small air leak that is giving you trouble.

Been away for a few days & didn't have web access. Thanks for the replies. Yes, it smokes when sputtering. It's fine same day or even 1-2 days later. But, if it goes any longer than that, it's going to take a minute & 4-5 starts to get it rolling. Once going, it's fine. It's got 770 hours. I bought it with about 720 hours & took it to a dealer (a new dealer) to check it out & go over a few things. They gave it a clean bill of health. I haven't had any problems with it other than the throttle cable sticking (the reason for the WD-40) on the cable attachment. The fuel filter probably needs to be checked anyway. I'll try to check fittings to see if anything looks loose.

Sounds like fuel is draining back some where, worst case would be the injection pump, check to make sure there is not any fuel in the engine oil.

Do you have a shut off knob?

Haven't noticed any fuel in oil, but will check again. Not sure what shut-off knob you're referring to, kenstrac? Any details?

If it's like my dk40 it has a shut off valve built into the fuel fiter housing
