Hi guys,I'm a landscaper in northern NJ.I'm trying to expand my buisness into tractor work and I need help please?I'd like to offer,brush hogging,lawn renovation,new lawn insalation,snow removal,small log skidding to go along with brush cleaing and posible finish mowing.What tractor(brand and model)and equipment would you suggest?I have no experience with tractors and their related equipment.The properties are usually a few acres,some are fairly steep.What HP should I be looking at?What trans is best?I know I'm starting from scratch but on the good side I know i have alot to learn.Thanks for any help,BASIC.

i am not sure any 1 tractor would be ideal for all the things you mentioned, but off the top i would think you should be looking at something in the mid 20 HP Range. i would not even begin to suggest a name brand, you need to look at them ,sit on them and test them out. But i wll say i like the HYDRO tranny.
Lot's of jobs, unknown acreage, can't answer the question very well.
If you're talking about brush hogging LARGE fields, you're going to need a large tractor, or be on each job too long. Then, you may need a smaller tractor for finish mowing.
Soil types in the area my dictate that you need a lighter tractor. Skidding logs will generally dictate a heavier tractor.
Try to write down the jobs you feel you'll be able to do, and ask specific questions about what will do those jobs, and we'll be better able to recommend something.
