It looks he is giving it all the tractor will do - even increases the throttle. I know digging grass like that is tougher than digging loamy soil but that is pathetic.

I agree. That video is definitely not a good example.
There are lots of videos out there with people doing serious work with this style backhoes for pretty much any tractor brand.
If you're looking at Branson, there lots of users here with backhoes that can provide some real world experience.

They’re pretty weak but you should be able to take full scoops with that bucket. That guy isn’t much for operating and maybe he didn’t want to make a mess in the field.

I had never used one before, or any type of 'heavy equipment', but I was able to dig a 6' x 6' x 5' hole to bury a cow in the pasture where it succumbed. It took me close to an hour because of the 12" bucket, but I never thought it felt under powered.
A few months back during a dry spell, my clay subsoil about a foot below the surface got so hard I could NOT dig it. I could scrape it and leave teeth marks, but I could NOT get into the ground to get a bucket full. I could point teeth teeth down and raise the tractor, so it wasn't a lack of hydraulics. I was only trying to dig a bucket width trench though. Maybe if I had gone wider and tried a different angle, I could have made better progress.

My back hoe on Kubota L3301 is far from weak! It will drag the tractor around with ease. Also it will lift the tractor easily as well.

I don’t think he really knew how to make it dig. I have dug out chunks of earth filling the bucket plus some! He was probably just doing a quick demo, not really trying to dig a hole.

Depends what you are compareing it to a shovel or a mini . Always is hardest breaking surface depending up on ground I did an addition in Stonetown [apply named ] and the digging took forever then did one in Toms river and the same size addition took one quarter the time. That guy had no idea how to dig [no tecknique ] . He wasn't realy wanting to dig a hole anyway.:drink:

My backhoe is slow because it lacks flow, but a hydraulic cylinder has the same pressure on it no matter what the size....3000 PSI. That is what determines break out force.
As I said, my little backhoe is slow, but I have busted out frozen ground with it when my septic tank needed work in mid-January. It was not what I wanted to do.
Still, anything beats a pickaxe and shovel.

I don't think that he tried to do any more than that with it, rather he was trying to show that it could dig. He wouldn't have run my tractor more than 5 seconds anyways... when he started it up and immediately hit the throttle I would have kicked him off it.

That happens a lot of YouTube, and understandably so. People get something new, are eager to show its use off, and so they film themselves operating it when they are really lousy with it. They should wait until they get comfortable operating it, but by then, it is just another tool in the barn.
So I get it. But when I see something like this, I never judge the equipment, or the operator: we all get excited about shiny and new things.
I could be mistaken, but believe that he's a salesman for a Branson dealer who posts videos occasionally. If so I hope that they have somebody else showing new buyers how to run their tractors.

Yes, you're right. Just don't go look at the other videos. It's equally bad.
Maybe someone who knows who he is and the dealership he works at could do everyone a favor and tell him he can’t operate it and to take the video down because it’s embarrising to watch and will most likely loose sales for his brand of tractor.
