A 61 year old gentleman lost his life today when he rolled his tractor into a gully . I didn't know this gentleman personnally but I found the article educational in the way his friend describe his how much experience and enthusiasm he had for his tractor work. He also mention he had work around the gully many times and was quite familiar with the area. This just goes to show you, sometimes no matter how " comfortable " you feel with your tractor and work area we need to take a step back and think ," What am I doing that is unsafe ?" see the attached link.

I'm very sorry to see this... when all the experience in the world sometimes won't save you... only by practicing safety will... /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif

Be careful out there, folks. And if at all possible, get a ROPS.

This is unrelated to safety but I have to comment.

I am impressed by the respect, professionalism and grace demonstrated by Charmaine Smith in writing that story for the Anderson Independent-mail. The tone of the story, the use of "MR." and "Mrs." before all names, etc. .. It's so much better than the writing in the local papers around here - but then maybe the local writers here are too influenced by the big paper just east of us - the Washington Post.

I'm not a journalist but based on this article, I think that Charmaine Smith and the Anderson Independent-mail should be writing examples in journalism schools across the country.
