I'm looking at a used trac vac discharge chute adapter for my GT235. The model number is 179-8; the Trac Vac application guide says I need a 179 for my 48" deck. Does anyone know what the -8 means, and if in fact this is the right model for my mower deck? I've bought two of these things over the years and they are insanely expensive new.

Looks like the -8 means 8" chute. Darn it. I have a 6" chute.

What is happening to the chute and how long do they last?

Oh - nothing. I went from an X300 to a Kubota BX and back to a GT235. Too many equipment changes!!

Make one from a piece of thinwall pipe of the size hose you have. Slit it open and cap the end. Bolt the top flap to the deck using existing holes after removing the chute, or adapt to make use of the chute.

I'd imagine you could use plastic sewer pipe for this, too. Wrap it into place using some furnace duct sheet metal. There's really not much to them as far as function is concerned. Heck, a furnace floor duct would probably work.

You might try Cyclone Rake. They have mower adapters in different sizes.
You cut the mower end to fit your mower.
