I think they built them with non-union American labor but I could be wrong.
I don't read Consumer Reports, I feel they are not very accurate on much they write.

Ya know what's funny about this is neither one of us even own a Toyota or probably ever have, although my next vehicle in a year will be a 4X4 Tacoma to take the chores of my Jeep while it undergoes many upgrades for playing offroad.

I figure I won't have that problem with the Taco I will be getting since it will have a clutch pedal.

Man, could you imagine if a domestic truck had this problem? They'd never be forgiven.

ie idiot driver error.

you know the ones... the ones that plow head long into sides of buildings or groups of pedestrians, or cafe's.

But in a world were we have warning labels on coffee that its hot, im shure the above will have NOTHING to do with the diver and be entirely Toyota's fault.

My '88 toyota 4wd x-cab was rebuilt from a wreck. From year one I had the truck oil undercoated professionally, and yes the undercoater operates with the state's blessing. That truck is still on the road, I sold it to a friend and the frame is still nearly pristine. My '97 taco frame is shot because it was six years older than the 88 when it started getting the oil treatment. To get it inspected this year, I had to fishplate the whole thing from the gas tank back and I am quite sure this fix will only go for a couple years. The back of the frame was very thin and perforated at the tank. I say a prayer every time I pull a trailer. Luckily the gas tank rotted out too so working on the frame was made easier w/o gas being an issue Needless to say, this recall makes me very happy. Here in salty vermont, this is an extremely common problem and source of much consternation for Toy owners given the reliability of the rest of the truck. I had considered going back to GM since the mileage is the same or better and used trucks are not as pricy as Toys. This recall, if it actually happens, will certainly keep me a Toyota customer since I had no trouble getting 15 years out of the 88 with the oil undercoat anti rust treatment.

A friend of ours had this problem! He was pulling his new Toyota truck into his garage and it suddenly accelerated into the garage refrigerator and the back garage wall. His truck was only ~ 6 months old. Thousands in damage to the truck, refrigerator trashed and **** near put his truck in the family room!!

He thinks it happened b/c the brake pedal is too close to the accel pedal.
