I used to change the clutches in Ford 600-800 semis in less than an 8 hour shift and that included going for parts! Without a transmission jack.
I put an "I" beam across the window ledges and used a comalong for the transmission.
I even did one with double clutch and 2 transmissions in about the same time. I did borrow a jack for that one.

Just drive the tractor. Say 10mph will be a nice country ride.

I have driven a tractor 35 miles and it was actually enjoyable.

Go back and get the trailer later.

Actually, he could get a 3 point trailer hitch for the tractor, Gooseneck Trailer Hitch For Tractors
then, load the trailer with all of the attachments and tow it all home in one trip.

You guys live in a more "Ag Friendly" state than Florida. The only time it is legal to road a tractor is when you are going from a field you own to a field you own (or maybe lease?). Those field can only be a certain distance apart, 10 miles I believe is the distance. Now...even with that to consider... I really don't want to go down the full length of the notorious "Blanding Blvd" with a tractor pulling a trailer!!!People on that road are CRAZY!!!
I went and borrowed a truck and trailer tonight, only to get a message from the seller wanting to postpone till the weekend. There goes my Saturday seat time, moving the stuff!
OH WELL, just be glad to get finally get it...

Degolyerent,
I sent you a PM, and then another!

I have a buddy that pulls a 40,000# houseboat that's 16' wide and 68' long 25 miles each way to and from the lake in April and back in October with a 150 HP New Holland tractor. Takes the back roads on a weekend morning and no one bats a eye.

Glad you got it moved.

BTW - did the clutch in my F450 (2003 with 7.3L) and is was about $2K total. $600 for the clutch parts (flywheel, clutch, pp and hydraulics), $450 for the transmission housing (cracked tail shaft section) and the rest for labor to put it all together. I had a local guy do it who I know well, and is know to be expensive. If the transmission is good, the clutch should be simple and fairly cheap when factoring free labor.

I wandered into the diesel shop yesterday, and overheard a student telling the instructor that he was trying to buy a car with a bad clutch and wished he could get it in time to do the clutch next week when they learned clutches. So I told the instructor that I had been trying to get my clutch done for over a year, and could I get it done? He asked what vehicle, and I told him, and he said that he didn't think they had the tools to do that model of truck. I think they don't want to do it because the school owner has a similar F450 and would probably want to have any tools required to work on it. Plus the school has a couple of similar diesel trucks that they are always working on for training. My thoughts... they want newer vehicles instead of 17 year old ones to train on, so are by-passing my truck.
