I am often moving my B21 up to 10 kilometers so it would be convenient for me to tow the tractor rather than driving it. Anyone have experience of towing av small tractor like B21 after for instance a Volvo V70 using a tow bar attached to the FEL in the float position? Of course the speed can not be higher than 15-20 mph. But will the tractor steer like a car on a tow bar? It would be easy to weld a Y-shaped tow bar and attach it with bolts to the holes in the front och the FEL and hook it up to the car. Maybe this is only another crazy idea that should be forgotten. Or...? Advice much appreciated.
Thanks
Lars

Towing any hydro is a no-no.. Best to just drive it over the road. 10K is 6 miles so 11 MPH about a half hour.

On my old 1977 Bolens HT20 there was a small valve/screw to let the hydro freewheel...

Any idea if the kubota tranny has this feature?

Even with a bypass valve, you should Not push or tow a hydrostat any faster than you can Walk... and Not for any distance farther than You could push it...
Wheel motors do Not make the best pumps...

When put in neutral, where is the drive train disconnected from the rear wheels? My son-in-law was sitting on my tractor the other year, as I was showing him the controls. He took the tractor out of gear and it began rolling down the driveway until I yelled for him to get into the brakes.

I can understand that you wouldn't want to turn the HST parts from the driven end, but with the tractor in neutral this doesn't happen.

Thank you guys for preventing me from doing a stupid thing out of ignorance.

Besides the hydrostat issue, I think towing a setup like that (via the loader) at 15-20 mph would be excessive. You are best just driving it. Make sure to put it in 2wd mode while on the road.

With no suspension and a high center of gravity I wouldn't tow one at that speed

If you put that machine in neutral the hydrostat is not engaged, so towing it short distances with it in 2wd wouldn't be an issue. I would not tow one 6 miles or anything close to the speed you were considering.
