Torx socket sizes

Does anyone know how many sizes there are of the Torx sockets? Seems every time I encounter one of these it is a new size that I don't have and I have to run all over town to track it down. Came across E-Torx bolts for the first time the other day. I would just like to get a good complete set of both Torx styles. This set Northern Industrial Tools 1/2in.-Drive Torx Socket Bits 19-Pc. looks good but I know that there is a t47 that is not included and just wondering if anyone knows where to get decent quality complete sets. Thanks

When you say a complete set, it seems they don't really have one that includes all sizes and kinds. There are tamper proof torx bits also. So, I would think a complete set would include those. JMO

Guess it depends how complete you need it (based on what youre doing w/ them). For electronic (computer) stuff the small sizes are what you need. For automotive youll need the widest range b/c Ive used my smallest size under the dash and biggest for the brakes and most of the sizes in between for other stuff. I looked over on MSCs site and see their sets are separate but have more pieces then the one you listed.

I bought a set from Snap-on years ago that pretty much covered them all. They were on 1/4 and 3/8 drive for use on ratchets. They also had some that were in the foldable type sets (like swiss army knife?). Very handy. I think those were actually Blue Point brand.

Thanks for the help so far. I have the smaller size bits that are like a screwdriver, but what I am wanting now are more like sockets (they require a ratchet or some type of driver) and are probably the larger sizes. Just need them for general automotive/farm type use. Like I said in my earlier post I know the t47 is missing from the set I linked to, but what I don't know is what other sizes are missing also. Just want to get as many as possible in one set so I don't have to run all over trying to find the ones that are not included. Thanks

One problem I ran into with the socket-types is that they are often too big to fit into a particular place. The starter on my MTD riding mower, for instance, is just a fairly common t20, but the socket-type t20 I got in a set from Harbor Freight was too wide at the socket joint to fit between the starter and part of the mounting bracket. So, as with all tools I suppose, you need not only the full range of sizes but various formats. I had to find a screwdriver-type t20 to get to that bolt.

I own a Jeep which is pretty much Torx everywhere. The Lisle 34-piece set from Sears has all the sizes I've encountered and I've only broken one, the T45(cheater bar). An email to the Lisle company got me TWO replacement T45's in the mail, an apologetic letter including tips for getting the balky fastener loosened, and a $10 coupon for any of their other products. Good ol' 100 year old company making specialty tools with pride in Iowa, USA.
