I have a set of Gators coming for my 48" Model 317 Deck.

Anyone know the torque spec for these blades on this deck? I would prefer they stay in place :)

Tight LOL.....

Go to at least 80 ft/lbs, and then there should be no fear of them loosening.

When I picked up new blades for my brush hog I asked what kind of torque wrench I should use to get them to the appropriate ft-lbs. The counter guy laughed and said "just tighted the s**t out of them". That exactly what I did and it has worked out fine.

However too tight and your crush your bearings - like using air guns at 500 ft lbs

I bought a set of torque wrenches (1/2", 3/8" ft/pound and a 3/8" in/pound) when sears had them on sale, so I'm all set there. I'll probably use the impact to remove the nuts, but never to install them.

Thanks!

Ok, I can be silly sometimes.

I forgot that when my sister gave me the tractor, she also gave me a 1" tall stack of documentation including all the manuals (tractor, deck, etc...) purchase receipts, maintenance receipts, etc...

According to the deck manual the proper torque spec is 90-110 ft/lbs.

Pully nut torque is 50-60 ft/lbs.

So, there ya go. RTFM (when you remember you have it) :)

Thanks all!

Let us know how the Gators work with your deck. Chances are good you will love them, I think I said before they are a innovative product that work really well for most mower decks.

If they do, I'll see if they have one for my 7HP Husqvarna push mower too!

I have a 1863 Cub Cadet with 54" Deck. I put a set of Gator Blades (3) on it last year..They work great.I don't even get any grass build up under the deck if I cut the lawn when it's wet. I just ordered a set of Gators for my other 1450 Cub Cadet with 44" deck.
