Bird:

Isn't an Austin Healy Sprite kinda like driving a go-kart, very low to the ground so 50 seems like 150?

You're about right, Daryl. I wouldn't want one now, but I sure had a lot of fun with it when I was 22 years old. One of the mechanics at the dealership tried to get me to enter mine in some of the races, but I had to have it for transportation. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I would do a flat 100 mph wide open and the mechanic said it was faster and accelerated faster than any he'd driven, but I don't know since it was the only one I ever drove.

It wasn't being low to the ground that bothered me as much as being too low for other drivers to see. A dump truck ran me off the road the first day I had it, and it got hit sitting still 5 times; twice with me in it and the other 3 parked and I came out to find it dented. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif And that's the only reason I got rid of it.

And that's why my 951 is a garage queen. That and having to shift through rush hour traffic in Houston! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I fondly remember that the oil tank on the 911T was mounted in the passanger side rear fenderwell and was made from copper. Mine got a hole in it and I had to replace it. I tried to solder it, but the end result was a BIG part bill. I liked the dry sump engine, it was neat but when I was young, I wanted to spend my money on girls not oil tanks. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
