Hi just picked up a 217-d black smoke when cranking but doesn’t want to start. New glow plugs air filter fresh fuel started when I bought it after long cranking and then smoke cleared up and ran great but now I can’t get it to start again any help would be much appreciated! Thank you

Sounds like a clogged Injector.
Pull the injector out and reconnect it to the fuel line outside the engine. Stay away from the injector and crank the engine to see if a fine mist is emitted. If it just spirts it's a worn injector.

Thank you very much I’ll give that a shot tomorrow. I have a ultrasonic cleaner maybe I should pull them out and run them through it.

Tried testing them on engine they shoot a straight stream more less not a mist

I’m thinking injector pump is out of time I tried the manual but not making sense to me not sure on alignment markings anyone have an idea about this thank you
