I have a BX2660 & box blade. I am unable to adjust the box far enough to get the tines in the ground without picking up a lot of dirt in the box. I just want to break up the soil to 4-6". My top link is very stiff in operation. It has been lubed regularly, but I think I jammed it and am not getting the range out of it. Should the box be able to tip far enough to do what I want?

I believe that you will need to lower the rippers to get down as far as you want to be. Tilting the box forward isn't going to get the rippers in the ground 4-6".

Generally if you do not want to cut with the blade and fill the box...the box blade should be fairly level...Then set the scarifiers at the max depth (top hole)...tilting the blade forward (shorten top link) will only marginally lower the scarifiers...

If the performance is not satisfactory longer scarifiers may be required...

On most box blades that I have used when the box is level the teeth of the scarifiers will be just touching the ground when set at the minimum depth (bottom hole).

I guess I will weld up a piece to do the job. Thanks for the information.

Like everything else, it costs money. But by far the best solution is an hydraulic top link. I got one and use it for essentially every kind of implement. Even bush hogging. But it is way more help when using the box scraper than it is with anything else. You can adjust the digging angle/depth with such ease right from the seat without much thought. Compare that to getting on and off a zillion times. Turns out to be so handy in many situations that were unplanned. For example it can be a huge help hooking up to implements, dragging them back and forth by tiny amounts that you can't do by hand, etc. Other than being concerned about the cost (approx. $500) you will always be glad you got it.
