Mathteacher...I picked up a King Kutter 48". Paid $550 here in NJ. TSC had them for $500, but the closet store to me is 75 miles away in PA.

We are building a new house and one of the acres is a field that has gotten way out of control. I am hoping to turn the field into lawn in a year or two, at which time I'll use the MMM to mow and probably sell the rotary.

I used it last weekend and it worked well...even though I didn't have the top link adjusted properly /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Cut through some thick stuff 4+ feet high.

You may not even want to use the top link with the rotary cutter, since it has a wheel on the back. I do this sometimes when I need a lot of float, in a hilly area or when I am cutting ditches. The only disadvantage I have seen is you cannot lift the entire cutter off the ground, but that's OK because it has a wheel on the back. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not want to use a top link? See the thread about "how much slack for a rotary cutter?" and see the consequences of 'not sufficient top link' as the deck may contact the PTO shaft. Just a thought.
