Top 5 Agricultural Equipment Manufacturers?

I thought Deere had a bigger construction division than CNH.

Deere probably does sell more than CNH of equipment that is originally from themselves, or under the case and NH names. But here is where playing numbers, names and paint gets so crazy no one can follow or stay on top of it. CNH is owned by Fiat. Fiat is/or was tied to Fiat constuction, Fiat-Hitachi, Fiat-Kobelco, and a host of others. Most of the NH constuction line was/is rebadged Fiat. Deere also has joint ventures with Hitachi, Bell, Liebherr etc. So who gets credit for what products? Fiat was also tied in with Allis Chalmers and I think took over the constuction part when Allis went under.

When you look at all of the product under the Fiat umbrella I don't think it's close. Any list I have seen has them #3 behind Cat and Kom.

The Lexion has always been available in Claas colors through Claas dealers. The Lexion was a joint venture between Claas and Cat and both companies owned the Lexion plant. It wasn't till CAT dropped out of the ag market that Claas took over complete control of the plant. CAT produced the track system available on the Lexion as well as the motors and Claas produced the rest of the machine with their knowledge of harvesting.

What other dealers beside CAT or Claas have you seen selling new Lexion harvesters?

I have been looking for the article I read a few years ago and can not find it. The dealer I saw them at was an Agco in PA I think, it was several years ago. This was right after Cat pulled out. The artcle was that Cat dealers would get 1st shot, AGCO 2nd, then non AGCO Claas dealers. It must have not panned out and also now AGCO is making another combine beside the Gleaner line.

Now where have you seen Claas colored combines? What I have read is all in NA are Cat yellow with Cat engines, the rest of the world are Claas colored with Mec. engines.

I was referring to the fact that Claas dealers sold the Lexion harvesters everywhere else in the world. I didn't realize you were referring to just the US market as I don't understand how the Claas dealers work here in the US other then the fact they can't sell the entire Claas line currently (tractors and such). All I see fromt he Claas dealers in the US are the forage harvesters and hay equipment.

I though Hitachi was on it's own, the only other construction equipment grouped with Fiat is Kobelco according to Fiat Group's site.

FIAT GROUP - Agricultural and Construction Equipment

At one time Case excavators where made by Link Belt, I am not sure if it is still that way.

The is a link that has some history of Fiat-Hitachi and Deere Hitachi. It is possible Fiat is no longer involved with Hitachi, I can not find information either way. As I said, it's almost impossible to keep track of who is involved with who and who is making what in the construction equipment. Deere I know is still involved due to most Deere excavators are Hitachi machines with Deere motors and pumps. I think they are made by Deere under some contract with Hitachi, similar to the ADT's Deere sells that are a Bell design, but made here in the states by Deere.

This link is about Case and Linkbelt.

About Link-Belt

A GLOBAL JOINT VENTURE FORMS

In 1986, the Link-Belt Construction Equipment Company was formed as a joint venture between FMC Corporation and Sumitomo Heavy Industries, formalizing a relationship dating back to 1962.

In 1998, in a reorganization to focus on cranes, the excavator product line was spun off from the Link-Belt Construction Equipment Company. The LBX Company, a stand-alone, joint-venture company was formed between Sumitomo Construction Machinery Co. and Case Corp. to market and sell Link-Belt Excavators.

Today's Link-Belt Construction Equipment Co. is a dynamic, highly-focused organization with headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky that is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Heavy Industries.

Interesting web. LOL

From what I have read about JD/Hitachi is that it is a joint venture with engines being the only difference(and color of course).

I did find these sales number for JD, CNH and AGCO

Total ag sales for '08

John Deere $16.5
CNH $12.9
AGCO $ 8.4

Total 08 net sales ...all equipment and financial operations

Deere = $28.438B

CNH = $18.476B

What about JCB.....Any lists i've seen state JCB as having over 70% of the world backhoe and telehandler market.....Don't JCB use some hitachi parts in the track machines too..???

Unless you're reading some sort of subliminal message not available to the rest of us, "the whole point of this thread" was/is to determine who is #3 and who is #5 on the list, NOT who is #1, and/or #2. (Re-read post #1) Let's not start making up things as we go along. Stick with facts. Don't invent an answer and then make up a question that fits YOUR answer.

Even at that, with an unknown in TWO spots in this top five, and the numbers associated with those 2 others aren't available as of now, it's entirely possible that AGCO could possibly fit in EITHER slot. And THAT question, the one asked by the O.P., still remains at this juncture. Your "I think, therefore I know" logic has a GIANT flaw.

There is a strong likelyhood that AGCO is #3, but until such a time as hard evidence is prsented, it's just a guess on the part of ALL of us.

While those numbers MAY be accurate, they're just as likely skewed to a degree. (not scew, which isn't even a real word, with the possible exception of those appearing in your subliminal messages)

:D:D. So true Fw/J

Which begs my question posted in another thread: Why no AGCO forum?

Where does my tractor, as Mahindra 3325, fall in the mix?

Don

In my opinon Mahindra doesn't fit in this topic. They really aren't an Ag Manuf. when they only sell tractors less than 90Hp and a line of landscape attachments. They also make auto's in India. Same would be said of Kubota, even though they are getting into the ag tractor mix the past couple of years.
