I'm at a loss on this -

Background - toolcat was running fine, I did have errors codes (50-13/14/15) due to wheel speed sensors but it wasn't bothering me so I kept running it. Went to move the toolcat yesterday and, when turning the key, the starter would just clunk. I cleaned terminals and load tested the battery - battery tested fine. My next thought was the starter was bad. So I removed the driver seat and found, what I think, is a ground wire hanging out by itself. If someone could help me identify it, I sure would appreciate it. I checked continuity between that wire and the ground on the battery and there was a beep, hence I thought it was a ground. I was able to start the toolcat and thought it was fixed. Before re-installing the battery, I cleaned the main ground bolt behind the battery, installed the battery and hooked the terminals back up. Now I get a ton of error codes and the toolcat won't turn over. Error codes are:

50-30 sensor supply #2 low
50-48 2 speed error on
50-49 brake solenoid error on
65-05 - Console switch short to batt
13-05 secondary fuel shutoff solenoid short to battery
14-02 primary fuel shutoff error on

help?

Did you reattach the supposed ground to something? If it was a ground, was it meant to ground to the frame/engine, or was it a ground to the cab?

I don't know where that ground should go. If someone could look - that may be a good starting point.

My Series C has a wire that looks like that connected to the negative battery terminal, and another one connected to the mega fuse above the battery. Your continuity test was flawed, it may not be a ground wire. You can get a beep to ground from high side circuits with low resistance or stray voltage from a capacitor in a module. Use the ohms function of your meter to measure actual resistance, and only with the battery disconnected. A continuity beep is just a quick indicator. In any case, a wire that should be grounded will most often have no continuity to ground when disconnected.

I will check resistance later today. Regarding the wire in question, the starter is in the background of that picture - so that wire is coming from the harness going to the starter. I can see the big ground wire on the starter housing - I'm not sure where my loose wire goes.

Resistance from mystery cable to positive battery cable (with battery disconnected) shows open circuit.

Resistance from mystery cable to negative battery cable (with battery disconnected) shows .3 ohms.

My G series has no small pigtails like that on the battery. The mega fuse has a large cable coming into the bottom and 2 smaller pigtails like the OP has coming off the top.

I've gotten better pictures to try and show where the wire is coming from. It's not from the battery, it's off of the harness that goes to the starter.

This is the view with the drivers seat removed:20250515_152754.jpg

In the background, you can see the starter with the positive cable connected to it:

Here is a close-up of the starter. Notice that the harness going to the starter is where the disconnected wire is coming from (the disconnected wire is in the upper right of the picture):

According to the service manual, there is a ground on the starter (#2), which is also present on my machine:

Here is the schematic from the service manual:

Any thoughts?

My C series looks quite different under the seat.
