I needed to put a tool box on my MF-50. So I got an old WWII 50 cal amo box and put it behind the seat. It comes in really handy. Mostly I like it because it is water tight. I can also put a chain in it when I am towing something.

Did likewise with my Kubota L3010 HST. (50 cal. ammo box)
Made a frame for it and mounted it to the right hand side. The right side is a dead spot anyway, the HST pedal, and loader control are there. There is also no step on the right side.I carry a short length of chain(4') plus my lift kit adapters. My storage box has been on for 3yrs.,it's a real asset.

I did something similar. I took a .30 cal. ammo can and put one of Harbor Freight's large pick-up magnets on the bottom. Now it will stay wherever I put it.

Nice orange. I also put the bigger one on my L2500, if you look at the message "mods for an L model" (or something like that) you can see it painted gray behind the seat.

A tip, since it's probably permanantly(or semi) mounted you should remove the lose handle and the holder wire near the latch. The top handle will shake and rattle. And you probably don't need the handle anyway.

Nice idea, but I would put the chain in it when I'm not towing something.

I did the same, only used a metal tool box to keep hand tool in which was from one of my old lathes. I built a wooden box to keep chains in and the top link when using the backhoe attachment. Both are bolted to the fenders with 1/4-20 bolts and "ny-lock" nuts.

What guy Freds is (have to laugh at that comment).
Here's a picture of me enjoying that humor.

Also had a chance to mount a Come-a-long to the tractor to get my wife out of the same ravine she gets stuck in everytime she gets on the ATV. It is suspended above the tool box between (2) Ø1/2 bolts by tension and a bungy cord to keep the handle from rattling. It's come in handy several times now.

The local JD dealer had a little canvas-like box that fits on the back of the seat. Saw it the last time I was there but didn't ask about the specifics.

I use a tool belt attached to my FEL tower to hold big scissor-type tin snips, folding pruner, channel locks, multi-screwdriver and some occasional Cat 1 pins.

Got another soft case that mounted to the top of the cage they put on to guard the radiator from the FEL. It holds my persuasion hammer, as it's too heavy to stand up in the tool belt.

The only problem I had was condensation!! The box is so air tight,I had to drill a 1" hole, and insert a small louvered vent, problem solved.

KCinBr, I like that one a lot. I've been looking at my L2800 wondering how to get a decent box on it. Where did you get the black bracket? Unless I can find something similar, it looks like welding and drilling for me (not that I mind either one).

Does it interfere with your view of the 3PH when backing up to an implement?

JustGary, The mounting bracket is home-made from some scrap I had laying around. It's really very simple. The "U" piece that actually clamps around the ROPS is realy 2 "L" shaped peices, the cross piece can be made from almost anything. The tool box is............Craftsman of course. I think the key to mount that will hold the weight of all the stuff that ends up in a tool box is, to build it so it fits tight between the ROPS. I had to tap it in with a hammer.

And yes It does block the view a little but has not caused me any problems. My tractor is HST and when I hook up I'll just get real close( a couple of inches), put the tractor in low range, and from the right side standing on the ground I will use the HST pedal to move the tractor in to final position...Gotta watch yer feets.

Hope this helps...............KC
