Tractor
Kubota MX 5800
Is there such a thing? I did zero in on an MX5800. See previous post with pics of the land... its 24 acres of steep hills completely wooded with about 2 to 3000 foot of dirt road to maintain. I'll have a lot of trees/brush to deal with as will the occasional stump. Lots of large flat rocks I'll use for landscaping to move around.
So... I've not taken delivery but its ordered. In this time and reading several posts I got to wondering did I get too much tractor? Plenty on here saying how much they love their BX, L3301, L2501, etc... and I'm over here like dang... I coulda got 2 2501's for what I'm paying for this MX.
Am I going crazy?

Never too much tractor. Better a "REAL" tractor than a toy.

I’ve got an MX-5800 on 28 acres and think I need a second tractor if that helps:D

You had twenty-two posts in your thread NEWB BUYING A TRACTOR.

Why are you second guessing yourself after placing a considered order?

Has your land changed?

Lol... Not really second guessing. Just maybe bad luck there were a slew of posts of how similar properties had smaller equipment and doing fine. Nah, I'm not calling it off or anything. Just got the 'spending big money' pit in my stomach and need some reassuring. Ha

yes there can be to much tractor, (more for the size of the tractor) than the power of it, I farmed for about 40+ years, and still have my old farm tractors, and they are not that big of farm tractor, about 100 hp, but there not good in the tree rows, and the one has a wide axle, not the greatest for mowing unless it is a field, but I did about pull down a windmill with it mowing one time, catching the axle on a leg of the tower,
would love to have a small loader tractor with smaller frame, a bit narrower and able to get in to tighter places, and to use my 5 foot mower in the trees and to use the under fence mower with,

I think for some things your tractors frame size can be to large, somewhat like using a 18" adjustable end wrench (crescent) on a 7/16" nut, it can be done but not handy and easy,

YOU could get by with a smaller tractor. In the 30 to 40 hp range but definetly no smaller.I have 360 acres of hunting property, and its fairly hilly. I have 4 tractors the largest is a 2 wd 55 hp and the smallest is a26 hp 4wd The smaller tractor is great for working in the woods .But is a toy out in the open fields trying to brush hog. I have a 7 ft cutter for the 55 hp massey and even that seems small .

Hey - I've got 64 engine hp on 80 acres. But - I WILL TELL YOU THE SECRET ABOUT TOO MUCH TRACTOR. It is seldom spoken and then only in the shadows or the dark corners of forgotten buildings.

You may have too much tractor when - turning the tractor in a 360 degree circle will result in the tractor knocking down all four property line fences. It MAY be time to consider downsizing - then and only then.
