Please comment only if you’ve had direct experience with this type of Facebook marketplace ad. They say that their prices are low because they are brokering repo machines. Of course, they want a wire transfer.

Not just on Facebook, either. Craigslist has had an ad running for a very nice JD Gator, "estate sale" for only $1,500, this model is worth about four times that, minimum.

"Seller" requested direct e-mails, not via C/L mail because of "trouble with C/L e-mail", then wanted wire transfer and said they would deliver it to me. (Allegedly in Orlando, I'm near Daytona.)

Reported the scam to C/L, it went away for a few days but is back, and continues to run on C/L in other areas. (Unless there are a lot of JD Gators in a lot of estate sales . . . ummm, I kinda doubt it.)

Deals that are too good to be true are too good to be true.

That said, there ARE some very good deals "out there", but 99% of the time, you went looking for them, they didn't come to you, or you got very lucky and were in the right place at the right time. Good deals do not arrive over the internet.

I have a worthless check from a buyer. I guarantee this is a scam. They operate both buying and selling.

If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is, Beware.

having said that, those ads continue ad infinitum...

Obviously the scams work sometimes or they would stop doing it.
