Tomorrow\'s the day!

Hi all! I've been lurking here for the last few weeks as I have been on a crusade to buy a tractor to use for leveling / re-seeding the lawn, putting in a new drive way, etc.

To date I've visited several dealers of many different colors. I started out thinking a BX23 was perfect and then a Kioti CK 20 looked pretty good. So last week I had decided that the B7610 was the only way to go. As of today I've finally talked myself into a B7800.

Tomorrow my local dealer is having his annual open house. I'm stopping there first to see if he will match the deal I received over the phone from another dealer 90 miles away today. If he will bargain at all (which up until now he's shown no interest in) I'll probably buy from him just for convenience. I just have a funny feeling about them.

If they won't come close, it's on the road to the other dealer to take him up on his offer.

Either way due to all the great info I've found here it looks like after tomorrow I'll have a B7800 w/ FEL, Tiller and box blade to park next to the F2260 mower that's in the garage now.

Thanks everybody for your unknowing help /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: Tomorrow\'s the day!

Don't forget to eat his food and thank him for the lunch. Tell him that you never like to travel on an empty stomach and that both you and (insert other dealers name here) appreciate his giving you the fine meal. Shake his hand and head to the door. If you make it to the point that your hand is on the handle, then the bluff is lost and you have a 90 mile drive ahead of you. If he says wait, smile to yourself and work out a deal that you both can live with. Remember, at the end of the day, he has to pay for that food and also put food on the table at home just as well as you do. You might just make a life long friend tomorrow. Just don't know if it will be close to home or far away..... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You better hurry up and make the move or before you know it you be sitting in a L3430 cab model wondering how it happened... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Tomorrow\'s the day!

Junkman,

Thanks for the advise, I didn't need to go that far /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif. This dealers salesman is a younger guy, real nice but not too prone to old fashioned bargaining.

When I arrived at the open house, he was real busy so I spent some time with the Kubota rep. Gave the salesman some time to close a sale or two and ate some of that free lunch. When he got a moment, I explained that that I had come for one reason - to get his best price!

I also told him I had really done my home work and had prices from 5 dealers - including another owned by them. His previously quoted price was the highest of the 5. I let him know I wanted to buy from him, but I didn't want him to look at me with disgust every time I walked in the door.

As we discussed this a little more he began to explain their way of taking care of their customers, free pick up and delivery, discounts on equipment rentals, etc.

I toured the shop and talked to the service manger (who was the burger chef for the day /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif). I also asked a couple of other customers about their experiences. All in all, I think I made the right decision.

I just wanted to say thanks for the advise - glad I didn't have to go out the door to the other dealer.

Cheers,

Dan

Re: Tomorrow\'s the day!

Does that mean that you paid the highest price of the five dealers that you got prices from? Please tell me that this isn't true. I said to come to terms with a price you both could live with, not take you for every last cent that you have. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Re: Tomorrow\'s the day!

Junkman,

Sorry I didn't give all the info, I'd covered the actual deal in my other post B7800 here Tuesday, How did I do?

To save you the trouble of looking, the local dealer dropped his price to within $400 of my lowest quote and threw in the 50 hour service. I ended up at $14,446 for the B7800 and FEL with loaded R4's. And I stayed here in town.

For what it's worth he had previously been at $15,750 with seemingly no interest in bargaining.

Cheers,

Dan
