Yep, it's hard to beat a good stout industrial machine. I sold mine years ago and I still miss it.

I gave $17,000 for that one with 3 buckets and a set of forks. That’s cheap for the capability offered IMO. My need for this was fairly small considering I already have a mini and a skid steer but when brute force is required this wins. Half of my work is lifting and moving dirt. This has twice as big a bucket and it doesn’t cost as much to operate as the tracked equipment and it doesn’t destroy grass as bad.

I suppose a lot of folks are afraid of the maintenance costs and challenges of an industrial machine. I got a pretty good deal on a 580E with a recently renewed BT4. It’s been a great tool- dug 100’s of feet of water, septic and power trenches and moved tons of gravel but it does take a fair bit of upkeep-hoses, cylinders, assorted leaks and such probably scare people off-removing, renewing and replacing a dipper or boom cylinder or one of the main ‘flexible’ hydraulic hoses on one of these isn’t the easiest task. I have much of the tools and equipment i need to handle it, but there are things I hand off to my heavy machinery buddy, ‘Captain Komatsu’ he’s learned all the tricks of working on these bigger beasts so some times it pays to have him drop in and do the job.

I do all of my own maintenance/repairs also it's a good thing cause ain't nothing cheap to repair on a yellow machine.

My last 310 was nicer than this one and it put in trouble free service the whole time I owned it. This one has a few hoses that need replaced and 2 cylinders that are seeping a little bit but neither of those are hard repairs.

There’s nothing cheap to repair on any machine. Especially when dealers are involved.

You got a point there 4570, for me whenever my 260 International hoe needed something it went deep in the pocket.

That’s like $21,300 Canadian dollars. What would the same machine sell for there?
I gave up looking years ago because of prices and lack of selection. Just did a quick search and found very few backhoes in my Province and the cheapest was a JD310 with 11,000 hrs on it and the asking price was $49,000. Not sure how the 410 compares but I guess it is older and without a cab probably normally less than the 310 that has a cab.

They still make a 410 but mine is mid 90s era.

Biggest issue in western Canada is availability of used equipment ........ there isn't any. Much better in eastern Canada and massive availability in the US.

It was really limited before the whole supply chain issues and even worse now. I'll just make do with what I have and hope it doesn't break because finding parts could be difficult and take a long of time to get here. Our Province is in a state of Emergency. All of the major highways from the coast (our major shipping / transportation hub) to the interior have been cut off due to mudslides and extremely high water conditions that have flooded the highways and / or washed them out. Some of the major routes will likely take months to get back into service. Crazy times!!

Here’s the size of my 410 vs my skid loader.
