TODAYS SEAT TIME

I use to make/cut butcher blocks out of Sycamore. Many of them were cut square 30"x 30"x 2 foot thick. I would soak them in a vat of linseed oil for a couple weeks then sand them clean. They will last forever like that.

When you would cut the block with a knife it would close back within 24 hrs. But those things were heavy as all get out. Pretty though.

Today's seat time actually began last night, and involved getting a box with (2) 350 lb pigs onto my trailer. 3427A242-BB54-4BF8-90A9-5D4E49F5A022.jpeg You can see from the attached pic that I was handcapped from the start, but that was the only way that I could get onto it. About the time that the rear wheels came off the ground I decided to try something different... actually several things, but nothing worked. At about 1:30 this AM I realized that if I kept going I was going to have pig box scattered all over the field and porcines running around free so I dropped the loader and went home.

By then I was tired, frustrated, and possibly deluded yet as I drove away I was sure I could hear somebody laughing... although I've never hear his voice I knew who it was. The comment "tinkertoy tractor" was a dead giveaway.

Early this AM my neighbor came over with his big Massey, picked the box up, dropped it on the trailer and away I went. We had to wait a few minutes at the slaughterhouse so Ruger had a chance to say good-bye. I'll spare you that and I took no pictures anyways,... let it suffice to say that he misses his buddies.

Your trying to lift 2x350=700lbs + crate with bucket still on, no wonder Murphy was there.......... I cant even lift that and if I could take my bucket off still not sure I could lift that much, but I thought you had quick detach bucket?

I don't like wrapping chain around my loader arms. I had planned to put my grapple on to give a wider distribution, but didn't want to take the time.
If you look at the picture you will see that I was on a downhill slope, which was also working against me. I've got a lift capacity at the pins of 1490 lbs at the pins, or 855 lbs at the edge of the bucket.

I've got a SSQA plate with chain hooks welded to it,
works good for heavier lifting closer to the pins and no bucket weight.
One way to get more lift is to run your chains down the backside of the bucket.

You should have just put the empty box on the trailer and had the pigs load themselves.........

That's what I did, but being pointed downhill it almost got ugly. Good thought about the SSQA plate though, I hadn't thought of that.

That's actually my plan for next year. I just didn't get set up soon enough this time around. Last year I dug a trench deep enough for my pickup so that the tailgate was level with the ground. It made too much of a mess of my ground though, if you can imagine. Some people shouldn't own a backhoe...

I've got a lift capacity at the pins of 1490 lbs at the pins, or 855 lbs at the edge of the bucket.

And the 750lbs was another foot or more in front of the bucket edge, therefore reducing the lift capacity even more. A set of pallet forks might would have worked because the center of the load would have been much closer to the pivot pins. Distributing the load will not make the tractor lift more. The important consideration is, getting the center of mass (weight) of the load as close to the pins as possible. The closer you can get the center of mass to the pins the more the loader will lift.

No, the chain came up the back of the bucket. Even if they didn't I would have been lifting on the edge of my bucket. Lift wasn't my problem, I had the capacity. The rear wheels coming up off the ground because I was pointing downhill was what stopped me.
