TODAYS SEAT TIME

Hello all. 1st big post since getting my new NX 4510 HST with backhoe. Already 73.3 hrs. 1st maint done.
The Wicked Grapple is the best attachment. Here are some pics using backhoe to p/u logs and cut for firewood, took down old porch to add a 28x20 room addition and a new porch 26x18. Moved alot of dirt, trimmed trees picked up branches with grapple to firepit. Did regrade driveway first attempt was a disaster. image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

I have other pics trying to learn pic posting. With the rear scraper and box blade I love this tractor. There is a steep learning curve in doing detailed grading and trenching.

Did you trench everything with the backhoe? Although it's still new, how do you like the backhoe?

I look forward to a detailed review... How well you feel it breaks through the ground, how well it busts roots, the strength for picking things up etc.... Thanks

Just finished cutting a 20 acre pasture and got tractor / cutter cleaned up when rain started.

Such a beautiful place to "work"... :)

Thanks but, someone's got to do it.

This particular pasture has been a very successful experiment. When we bought this place, 10 years ago, we had more weeds than grasses in all of the pastures, mostly goat weed (Wooly Crotun).

All of the pastures are covered with trees, mostly live oaks and post oaks. I've been concerned about spraying herbicides and drift getting to our trees as we almost always have a wind or breeze here.

This pasture has never had any herbicide applied and just mowed 3-4 times a year particularly before any weeds start to go to seed. It is, for the most part, weed free now, except along fence lines with neighboring properties that do nothing but let their weeds grow.

This pasture is a mix of Bermuda and native grasses.

I mowed the dog yard with B7500 and bush hog yesterday. Was able to knock over a stump from a tree we cut back when we built the house 12 years ago. Too heavy to pick up. Will deal with it later.

Ken B yes I did trench being new I took it very slow. Backhoe is strong especially on curling to break roots. I feel very stable and did some work on 30 degree slope uphill. I also have tried 10-20 degree slopes sideways to get feel of stability. Uphill is preferred but downhill is also ok but don't pull too hard as it wants to slide down even with tractor brake on. I tried it to get to all sides of tree root. Tree was about 18" across. I used backhoe to pry up old porch slab then used grapple to raise and drop to break into sections. I have heavy clay under 2 inches topsoil here and it cuts through very clean. I put blue tape on bucket sides to help maintain bucket depth it worked well. Digging and curling strength is very strong. So far I have been able to lift anything I wanted but a large white oak log estimated weight about 900 lbs. 7 ft long 24 diameter did seem to task the capacity. I increased rpms to 2000 then went very slow and managed to pick it up with using hydraulic thumb about 3 ft above ground then cut it into 16" logs. then picked up logs with grapple moved to barn where I split and store wood. I have a 9 inch bucket for trenching and root breaking also a 12 inch both work excellent. I have a 24" inch bucket for moving dirt and digging works well in clay also.
hydraulics are crisp and strong I need to a light touch on controls to avoid jerkiness and tractor shaking. Next year when I build garage/shop I will be digging up an old footing 12" wide about 40 ft. long 36 " deep this will really test backhoe. It was an old barn put in about 1948. Found footing by accident it is just starting to peek out above ground.
