Was moving dirt to fill and level around a bunch of rocks in the yard. Then drove front wheel up on one and got a Oh F**k moment.

Used come-a-long to truck and engine lift to FEL frame to put it back on wheels. As I was clearing a path to yard for truck and lift heard myself say could use tractor to move this.

What's your method to getting those big stumps up outta the ground? I'm still learning so I guess it's gonna take a lot more practice. I got a ripper tooth on the hoe but those things are really ornery. The little ones pop right up and out but the bigguns just don't wanna budge. Mostly cedar and fir with a few oak. I've got lots of em and want them gone or at least down to ground level so they aren't so ugly looking. I thought the tooth would slip right on through the roots but no dice, it isn't making a dent. I think it must be me and my lack of skills. I wish for the old days when a little dynamite would get them gone or at least persuaded to cooperate.
Actually most of them were uprooted with a big excavator. I have a few that are too big to even move far with my BX. That said I have dug a good number out with my BH. Does take some time. Not sure I have the answer but I do try to scrape and expose as many main roots. Then weaken them with a small chain saw if I have to. I also make sure I don't cut the tree too close to the ground so I have some leverage to to push or use a come along. Really need to make sure you have access all around them to dig all sides. Good luck... Don't know if that helps at all.

Almost all of the trees I'm taking out are dead from our 2011 drought. I do my best to take them down, root ball and all. Easier to fill a hole than remove a stump. I try to push a bit on one side then get on opposite side to complete.

Sometimes they snap off above the ground. If that happens I use chain saw to cut as close to ground as I can. Then dig dirt around what's left and soak with some diesel, let sit, and burn a couple days later. Usually get lucky and stump will burn down below ground level. Cover it with dirt and forget about it.

Southernsooner, that looks great!

Thank you. Just need for grass to fill in some of the bare areas around there. There were twonice rebuds and an apple tree in the middle of that mess. The apple tree is not too healthy, but maybe it will be okay now that it can get sunlight.

Sure am glad you are ok. That would shake up most of us.
Possibly more weight in rear or weighted tires?

Didja give it a belly rub while it was laying down? Sometimes they just need that itch scratched...

I took out a yucca stump that was about 2-1/2 feet across.

This was my first really intense use of my new Piranha tooth bar and I'm totally pleased with how it performed!

It took about an hour of digging, but the Piranha gave me the bite I needed to get under it and work it loose.

Excellent product, would recommend it for any serious digging.
