TODAYS SEAT TIME

I bought a farm that had been let go for several years. I have been cleaning it up when I have free time. We have been cutting brush out of the fences. In some places you couldn't even see the fence for the growth. Fence is in good shape so I hate to dozer it down with the brush. It is slow work but we are making progress. I cut up the brush piles on one line of fence yesterday with my cutter. A clean fence line makes it look like whole new place. IMG_2140.jpg

The new HX15 flexwing rotary cutter was delivered today. Spent some time mowing this evening in one of the pecan orchards.

Leaves a lot better finish of a cut than I expected!

That is a dandy mower and a beautiful cut. But I'm also impressed by the lighting.

So it's still too wet to get any seat time in and I was scrolling through some photos on my phone and found this one from last year. I had just dug out a small stump and when I went to swing back to start to fill in the hole some one decided that it was a nice cool place to take a nap.20140714_173825.jpg

Gotta love how they enjoy being in the center of the action!

If I wiggle a loose stump and get a few roots flopping around my younger dog will come and play tug with the stump and back hoe. Some times I have to tie him because he will try and pull the stump down out of the bucket while it's in the air.

I finally got a chance to cut up and skid out some blow-downs... 4 oak logs, 10-14" diam, 8' long and one 10'er. Had a maple tree in the mix, smaller and only firewood but it came out too, 2 of thoes about 16'. Good day out in the woods with the oldest boy cruisin around on obe of the 4wheelers. He was pullin old steel t-post for fence work.

Apster, you know I'm sure the power of an uprooted tree or stump to spring back down unannounced, hate to see one of your dogs injured. Dogs love that fresh dirt (or something) under a tree, don't they?.

I watched a friend pull out a 8" stump with a full size excavator and a root shot out of the ground and busted the windshield. I don't let him play he usually just sniffs about. He knows not to get close to the bucket but sometimes he forgets and that's when I tie him out of reach.

Checked all my fluids, lug nuts, & tire pressures & got my FEL all greased up after a winter of snow removal! No meaningful seat time today but I'm ready for the next opportunity!!

I spent the day spraying for ants. 60 gals of mix took most of the day with my little trailer boom sprayer, but area to crowded to use big tractor with 3 pt sprayer. I did sit the Kubota for a little, a friend gave me a post hole auger that I unloaded, and then a storm blew in and knocked a limb off on to the power feed to the house. I was able to just flip it off with the FEL
