TODAYS SEAT TIME

My seat time started Thursday. We moved into our house last year and this year put in a full garden. Its going to have to be moved because the yard & road slope down to it and in a heavy rain there was a tendency to wash top soil and plants away. Thursday I staked out our new location (first picture) and then used my middle buster to define the boundries (second picture) and to help keep my plowing straight.
I hooked up the breaking plow to see how it was going to do and it one section the ground was so hard (it's been a yard for almost 40 years) that the plow was only going about two inches deep. The only thing I could think was subsoiler so Friday I went and bought a subsoiler.
Yesterday was 5 hours of using the subsoiler and then the breaking plow again. The third picture is the result. It's about 1/4 of an acre.
The next thing is tilling it and planting some turnips for cover.

I broadcast ryegrass seeds in my food plots and used the 3930 with the old tine harrow to scratch them in. This piece of equipment belonged to my grandfather and is showing it's age, so I don't use it very much. I also got the 6' RFM hooked up and ready to mow. No time to do it today though. Heading out to work in a few minutes.

Daver, your pics brought back great memories. I put in a new 50x100 garden in a fallow field of clay and granite near Philadelphia PA, and had to use the subsoiler to break it up. What a lot of work but enjoyable seat time despite the bumpy ride.
Your place sure looks nice in the end pic.

my seat time today was mostly on the RTV400 running back and forth dealing with various contractors needing things out of the back barn and taking landscaping rubbish back to the burn pit. I think I went a little too fast at times, as much fun as that is, and hit a few too many bumps, as I've got a pretty sore neck tonight to show for it. Wheeeeee. Who wants to grow up? Not me....
Actually I just had my driveway paved and I've never had the little Kubota up to top speed. With 40 hours on it, should be broken in. Time for a Land Speed Trial. 14 mph I think.

I mowed up close to the house, and had enough time before work to make a few rounds all the way down to the graveyard and back.

Haha, the pallets are legendary!

That thread was quite a lot of fun, because everyone checked their egos at the door and carried in their sense of humor.

I just mow around the pallets. You get used to them after a while.
