Today didn't rain from 6AM to 6PM as the forecast 'suspected' it would, so I actually got a little seat time in. I gathered loader buckets of earth and attempted to fill in around my septic tank. Even being as slow and deliberate as I could, I couldn't get much more than about 15-20% of each load to "fall" into the hole around the tank. This made for a slow day of quickly gathering a bucket and dumping it on the tank (as much in the hole as possible), then slowly shoveling it from the top of the tank into the hole around the tank. The main difficulty is the size of some of the chunks of clay which need broken up before they will fit... Wanting it as compacted as possible as it was filled so there would be very little settling later, I knew much would be done by hand, but I had hoped I would get more in the hole with the loader than I'm able to.
I think I made some decent progress, I'd guess the sides are now about 75% filled...
