TODAYS SEAT TIME

Today's seat time.........for my 8yo son. He's having a good time on the new (to us) T1400 and the accessory/carry rack that I built last night. He keeps a hammer, vise grips, and three straps in the basket. Seems that I'm going to be getting more exercise following him to load/unload and the B3200 is also going to get more garage time! ;) Here he's moving some 6x6 ends that were left over from the porch remodel.

Very cool! Time to hide the B3200 keys . ;)

Agreed. That kid looks like he has the tractor "fever".
You are a lucky man.

Thanks guys. He's had tractor fever for a long time now and has known the loader functions since he was three. To drive my BX he had to have our daughter sit on the seat while he sat in front of her and used the pedals. On the B3200 he straps two short pieces of 2x4 to the forward pedal, slides the seat up and can drive it alone (but I'm close at the side to supervise). He's even moved some gravel for me and is learning how to blade it smooth. But now the T1400 is "his" tractor and wants to do the work with it.

Today I put 5 hours on my tractor mainly clearing out around a creek, with a chainsaw and a tractor I can do about anything. I used a 100 ft 1 1/2 inch rope and pulled 1 ft thick trees down, then cut it at the base. This tiny ls ceases to amaze me, 38 HP of power:)

No sure this fits here, but I'll post and take the chance.

Last weekend we had two nice fall days. The weather was crisp, and the sun felt good. My wife offered to help me gather wood, as bad weather was forecast for Monday. I usually work alone, but took up her offer. This is the first time she has driven my L4240. She loved it. We moved a couple of cords of wood. I loved it, too. I've included a picture of a happy new tractor operator. Mattie (11:3:13).JPG

The week before, I took the tractor and my wood splitter to a new neighbor's house. We cut trees and split wood all weekend. By "we" I meant my neighbor, his wife, and three kids. (My wife was sick that weekend.) I was totally impressed by my neighbor and his family. My neighbor and I cut trees in the morning and early afternoon of the first day. Then, he used his mall to hand split wood while his wife and kids and I used my hydraulic splitter to split other wood. The kids, aged 8, 6, and 4 (two girls and a boy in the middle) carried split logs over to the woodpile. They worked steadily all day and obviously enjoyed the team activity. So did I.

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the pleasure on my wife's face as she learned to handle our (now her's?) tractor. I was thrilled to see how my neighbors kids took pride in their participation and how seriously they took their efforts. I had forgotten how important and how valuable working together could be.
