Today\'s Headline

Headline of today's local newspaper read, "Boy,4, doing well after having arm reattached". His grandfather had started up his tractor, and the little boy was curious about the spinning piece at the back of the tractor and touched it. According to the paper, the rotating pto "ripped off the child's right arm nearly to his shoulder". Surgery to reattach the arm was performed, and the arm now has normal circulation and blood pressure. Time will tell if the operation will be successful.
What started out as a pleasant day of a little boy spending time with his grandfather very nearly ended in tragedy. Now that spring is nearly here and we will all be spending a lot more time on our tractors, we need to constantly be aware that our toys ain't toys.

Too true

My young fellow, at 19 months, screams for the "brrbrbrr" which is my tractor. Or the "mower" which is the rideon.

I let him sit on them to keep him happy but boy nowhere near them when they are running.

Just makes me wonder if he is so interested in them now what trouble I will have when he is old enough to want to drive them.........

A man who lived just behind my sister and brother-in-law got killed when he became intangled in the PTO shaft that was powering a small sawmill. He was working alone. My brother-in-law found the man dead after his wife asked him to go check on her husband because he had not returned home when expected.

It only takes a second for an accident to happen.

I hear that there has been quite a bit of rain down there lately.
