I pretty much never go anywhere without a gun, especially the woods!
Even with one you can feel under protected. I was squirrel hunting with the trusty 22LR when a sounder of ~20 hogs came barreling through the holler straight at me. I dropped one on the lead pig's head and they changed course, never did find any sign of that 300 lbs leader but at least I went home...

Brings-back vivid memories of being chased out of the pink impact zone, by wild dogs, on FT Benning....

Picked up a Barrett 50 BMG this week. Using a boresight to set the scope.

Took the kids to a movie, and swung by Basspro, looking for a bag of #4 or #5 Shot. No luck. Did see/hear too older men trying to put together a reloading kit; and they where talking about 308 bullet seating dies (as in, had a list, and said they need a bullet seating die) going through shell holders, thinking those where what a bullet seating die was. I did ask if they needed help, but they kinda blew me off; so have fun seating 308 bullets using a shell holder.

Edit: almost forgot; they have reloading and black powder stuff in different aisles. They had Lever Revoltion, and Autocomp power with the Ramhorn/Pyrodex/Triple7. I could see someone stuff 150grs of Autocomp

So, I'm kinda working on what might be a crazy, stupid, or hair brained idea. I am wanting to make heavy paper .50 cal shot cups, for a CVA muzzleloader. I've seen guys shooting raw shot in rifled barrels with what I would call poor patterns. My throught is, a fairly heavy (double grocery bag maybe) full walled, maybe cork or double cardboard base wad, and say 400ish grs (11/16 to 7/8 oz) of shot, over 60-80 grs (volume) no4 or no5 shot. I would think the paper(maybe waxed for lube) would not fully engage rifling, and reduce spin dispersion? Looked some online, but not really found any info.

Gonna work on turning a brass 0.505 ID cylinder, and a 0.495 OD rod, as a kinda forming jig to make a couple shot cups.

Maybe use the same technique used for paper patched bullets, but a removable tube/rod instead of a bullet.
