I was 33 days old. I do not remember it in real time, but I never forget it. So many young men lost, and many of them no doubt related to at least some of the older members on here because there was a big American contingent. Please spare a moment to reflect. You all know the line "Lest we forget".

He who forgets history, is bound to repeat the mistakes. Nor would he know how he got to where he is now.
Probably not what our younger gereration thinks of "a day at the beach."

Indeed. Lest we forget.

Please also remember that there were 5 beaches; 2 U.S., 2 British and 1 Canadian.

Plus the Navies landing and protecting... As were the Air Forces.

The sad thing is that when we see all the protesters out on the streets and parks over the last couple of weeks...very few of them realize what others endured or sacrificed to allow them the opportunity to do what they feel they have the right (freedom) to be doing...they take it for granted and they could not care less...
...The "Greatest Generation" was not falsely named...!

The happy thing is that there are still people who will stand up to fascism.
and it’s happy to see there’s still people who believe in their oath to the Constitution that it should be defended against all threats foreign and domestic.

Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a form of far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, as well as strong regimentation of society and of the economy which came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe.

Most kids walking around today know so little about the history of this country.
That’s why 1968 is repeating itself in 2020. 2020 is eerily similar to ‘68.
We never learn from history, so we keep repeating it.
