He was one of the best, and was a huge advocate for our Troops and Service people abroad !

This one hurts. As a vet he was one of my favorites, his unapologetic patriotism and support for our country and our military was endearing to me. Eff cancer!!!!

He was quite a philanthropist and seemed like a really down to earth guy.

Apparently, he was also very wealthy. I'm not sure of the details, but I believe he was his own producer and agent, allowing him to keep much more of his profits, compared to typical arrangements most artists enter into.

Agree. There're a lot of folks that make some very unselfish sacrifices for the rest of us. They should never be forgotten, or their sacrifices overlooked.
