Hey all,
am moving along in the housebuilding process, i'm my own 'contractor' on this one. will have a basement with superior walls, about 4' will be above ground. am being adviced to pre treat for termites, guess that's pretty standard m o, but was wondering what everyones take on that is, necessary or not?
thanks
paul

Most applications of chemical termite treatments put a chemical "barrier" around the structure.

I would treat, and then again in 10-15 years, do it again.

Why risk your investment and hard earned work to a bug!

Treat it! Like Riptides said, as much as your paying for the lumber nowdays it sure seems worth the price. To my way of thinking it's like insurance...

farmerpsv, Treat it absolutely!! No doubt about it /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Obviously youv'e never seen the trampoline the worker termites carry with them... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Also I think there might be some bearing on your construction loan stating such treatment , If you have a construction loan that is...or conversion to mortgage statement? Not sure

I'm trying to remember when we built our house, exactly which group had that on a check list ,but it had to be done. It was either the county or the construction loan company.
