To Load or Not to Load

Do you think it is necessary or beneficial to have my tires on my new L3540 loaded? I will be doing a lot of dirt moving, mulching of branches with an 800lb pto chipper, backhoe work. My property is hilly, wooded and alot of off camber sections. If loaded, should I load all 4. Pros and Cons??? Thanks!

Loaded, with a good rear counter weight if you are doing loader work.

as per my manaul its says not to load the tire and have wheel weight at the same time ??are they just covering there a--

You need more on the back than you can lift with the front so do you think that a rake or box blade is enough? The manual should have a ballast chart in it.

The box blad or the rake is definitely not heavy enough but filling the tires in conjunction to the implement might be close. I'd have to say that the BH would definitely be heavy enough especially with filled tires.

My point was that you and your dealer need to set down and review your needs and the ballast chart, then equip the tractor properly. It is not rocket science, nor should it be guess work. It is real simple; have enough on the back without having excessive weight to move. I have loaded tires AND 1200# on the back. Loader lifts about 1400# and weighs about 1000# so with 1200# plus the 1000# in the tires I offset the weight out front.

Have a L3130 loaded with RimGuard and a heavy 6ft box blade it can get light on the rear at times. With the Bradco 408 backhoe mounted there are still times that I can get a wheel off the ground. So I would say if your going to do the digging you need all the weight you can get.

I run my L3240 with UNLOADED tires. When the BH90 is attached, I have NEVER had a problem with traction, lifting the rear tires, etc. And yes I have lifted the absolute maximum of my LA724 with the Bradco pallet fork - I had to remove rocks from the pallet to get it off the ground.

OTH with a full FEL bucket of caliche, and only the Rhino box blade, the rear end is a little light. BUT since the only time I need more weight is when I'm using the box blade, I'll add weight to the box blade not the tractor
