To anyone who has spent time aboard the USS Saratoga cv-60. i would like to find out if anyone ever got sick from drinking the freshwater and showers tainted with jp-5 jet fuel. the drinking water in the galleys was mixed with wylers or what we called bug juice. Times after taking showers you could wipe some jp-5 off your skin. The Navy is trying to tell me that it never happened. some goods times aboard the SARA tough. enjoyed Egypt and pyramids a lot. Thanks keep on tractoring.

That was a old ship, anything is possible. I always wondered what those mandatory shot(s) that we received were. I just followed the line and got one too. Good luck with your endeavors' - there are so many hazard's in the NAVY. PPE was there, but I was young and invincible till my 3rd tour. Sure wished I had used double hearing protection from the get-go.

My dad spent WWII on CV18 - USS Wasp. It was wartime construction, and Kamikazes did not improve that. How'd you like to be cruising around on top of two million gallons of Avgas?

I spent 20 years on all kinds of Navy ships, sat plane guard for the old Sorry Sara many a night...
Frequently had DFM and Fuel Oil showers due to the cross contamination, never had a problem health wise.
