That's one heck of an outfit you have there. I would imagine not many folks around there would have that kind of equipment. You will probably get quite a few requests for work once the word gets out.

I have never seen that size Landpride Blade. That's really impressive. Commercial use. It looks like it takes 3 remotes?

Awesome!

Yes, we had a lot of snow. But this is Colorado at 8000 feet. We are also near one of the burn areas.

It was not as much as the snow was the problem, it was the drifts in Dec, Jan, and Feb. If it snowed one inch and the wind blew over 15 mph (and it did it at least once a week or more), my road would get buried in 1 to 3 foot drifts that I could not plow out as the drifts were hard packed.

My Ford would not do it, especially up and down the 10 to 12 degree slopes (two drive and chains). One Friday in Jan, I had to plow up and down my road every 10 minutes to try to keep ahead of the drifts. I lost that battle. And trying to plow in zero degree weather with 40 mph winds made me a real believer in a cab. Amen!!

That is one nice rig. Glad that you finally got it. Now go out and enjoy it and don't forget about us here at TBN. Remember that we all enjoy action pics.:)

Thanks Redbug and MtnViewRanch (Brian). Yes, it takes 3 remotes and a diverter valve on one remote to operate the gauge wheel. If you saw my road that I have to rebuild you will see why I got this rig. It also fits the tractor size (Cat II). I would have had to hire someone so I invested that money into the tractor and the blade, thanks to Brian (MtnViewRanch) recommendations. Thanks Brian!

I will post pics on the road before I start work and seek help on how to go about it and pics during the re-construction.

Hey Brian, I am waiting for Sue to call me on Monday about that Road Boss. It should work good for maintaining my roads.

Catman1, I have and use 4 different implements for working my roads. A rear blade that on its best day wouldn't have been 1/2 of your Land Pride, :( a Gannon roll over box blade, Road Boss grader, & a landscape rake. Each one works better at certain things than the other. Not that anybody needs all of them either, for my purposes I could in realty get by with either my Gannon or my rear blade. But it sure is easier & faster to maintain them with the Road Boss and do some final clean-up with the landscape rake.

Just my experience with what I have and my existing conditions.:)

Catman1, I am curious about the end plates on your rear blade. Not knowing for sure all the work that has to be done on your road, I'm wondering if for certain phases of your road building if it might be advantages to remove the end plates. Please keep us informed. I see that you also had chain hooks installed on your bucket, smart. ;)

I keep coming back to this thread to admire that nice tractor setup. I want one. I have no use what-so-ever for a machine that size but d@mn it's pretty.... :D

Hey Brian. I got the end plates for times I need to control the dirt capture. I probably won't need them most of the time, for example when digging "V" ditches, so I will remove them. I got them as they were real cheap when purchasing the rear blade upon recommendation of my dealer/salesman as he really knows tractors and implements and said I should have them for later.

I am studying the road and will post pics when I get them for recommendations.
I can figure out how the read blade can be used but I need to understand how to set the gauge wheel properly. I know many operators don't have those.

I understand that with that gauge wheel that the blade is almost like a road grader, with independent motion from the tractor.

I'm sure with a few tries that you will have it figured out.:D I'm guessing here, but if it were me I would get the cut depth set with the 3ph and then set the gauge wheel down so that it just touches without lifting the blade. Then you should be set to go and anytime that you lift the blade, only use the 3ph and as long as you always lower the hitch back to the same position with the position control you should be good to go again, I think.:)

Good luck and keep us informed. Oh yeah, remember the pics.;)
