TN85A power shuttle

According to the guy I bought it from and according to the book I should be able to change direction with just the shuttle lever and not have to use the clutch. However whenever I try it the tractor will not move and the warning light pops on and I have to operate the clutch to get the thing to move.
What could be the problem?

when you go from farward to reverse do you put hydro shuttle in n an let the tractor stop before going into r.if not try that an if that dont work sounds like you need to go to the shop.

Seat switch circuit problem, more than likely.
