Was throwing limbs on my burn pile the other day with grapple bucket, went in to dump limbs and used shuttle to back out but didn't move. Had to use bucket to back out of flames, a little hairy but no damage to anything but shuttle showed code 48. Turn tractor off and then back on and no code, worked the rest of the day no problems. Jumped on today fired her up and code 48 blinking and will not move at all, tried restarting a couple of times, can hear a switch cycling when ignition is in the on position, already replaced the pressure switch that everyone says goes out on these about 2 years ago, is it the same switch or is this a different problem?

Fault code 48 Clutch pedal switch set too low.
Causes;
Improperly adjusted clutch pedal switch (most common)
Faulty switch.
Short circuit to 12 volts between FNR lever and ECM connector 1 pin 15.
Make sure the FNR lever/switch assembly isn't loose on its attaching bracket, and the insulating cover is intact and in place under the switch assembly. Proper adjustment of the clutch pedal switch will require a dealer's diagnostic breakout tool or laptop loaded with EST software and proper cabling to attach to your tractor along with the information and/or experience to use the equipment and make the adjustment.

Thanks RickB, i'll check the switch to see if it is loose or any exposed wires and then I have a feeling I will be calling my dealer. I really appreciate the help.

OK so I go back in the mud to see if there is something wrong with the wires or switch and play around with it for about an hour turning it off and turning it back on again and two things happened. First I notice that if I don't touch the clutch and just turn the key on the code does not come up unless I push in the clutch. Does this point to the clutch switch being faulty or am I just barking up the wrong tree? So I try pushing in the clutch and starting it and letting off the clutch as quick as I can and well it works. As long as I use the shuttle to move forward and back the code does not show up but as soon as I push the clutch in it pops up but the tractor still moves forward and back. I checked my service records and I have had a code 48 before but everything was still under warranty, so I thoght, the tractor only has 371 hours on it now and I really don't feel like shelling out $600 just for a switch.

Any thoughs

Based on the info you have provided, it sounds as if the clutch pedal switch is either out of adjustment, or faulty. Probably out of adjustment. Not sure why the switch should be $600, MSRP is probably under $50, and I don't think you even need to replace it. Without accounting for travel time, a simple switch adjustment should not take an hour, even if it happens to be one particularly difficult to dial in, which does happen. Assuming that is all it needs, of course.

Sorry what I meant was last time it was the ECM that they had to replace but the error code it was coming up with was 48. I'm not sure if they replaced the ECM or reflashed it but I remember the warranty had expired by 2 days and they charged me $600.
