TN65 \"accessory\"?

Got my new TN65 last week and have been loving it! However, I found one "undocumented" accessory that makes me curious. Right behind the lift and draft controls is a small socket of some sort with a spring loaded cover. Too small to be a cigarette lighter, but that's just about what it looks like.
I can't/haven't found it referenced in the owner's manaual.

What is this thing? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Re: TN65 \"accessory\"?

For just a wild guess, I'd suspect it might be to plug in trailer lights.

Re: TN65 \"accessory\"?

It is a 12 volt outlet, You can get the socket at your dealer and you can attach flashing beacons or whatever else you might have for your tractor that runs off 12 volts.

Re: TN65 \"accessory\"?

Nope, not for trailer lights. The plugs for trailer lights and such are on the *other* side between the fuel fill and the PTO lever. Not enough contacts in this thing anyway. I thought it *might* be a simple 12V socket, but I've never seen a plug that would fit something like this.

If everyone ends up stumped by the description I'll post a picture later.

It is a simple 12V socket, go to your dealer and he will show you the plug that will fit in it. Take care.

I haven't bothered getting a plug for it but I imagine it takes a "bayonet plug" like they use on PA amps and electric guitars and such.

Re: TN65 \"accessory\"?

I wonder if I can get enough amps out of that to run a fuel transfer pump? That would be much better than using my old hand pump or stringing cables up to the battery. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: TN65 \"accessory\"?

Nah, that one is only 8 amps. You should be able to run a pump off of the 25 amp power socket. That's the four prong outlet next to the 7 wire trailer outlet, it's on the left rear on my TN 65.

Re: TN65 \"accessory\"?

Yep, same place on mine. I haven't figured out all the bells and whistles on the NH. I've been using a JD 1020 for the last 20 years; sorta "no frills" compared to the new models. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not sure on this but my dealer told me that it was a power jack for a cell phone.
