Tires Tires for 2003 284LE

Outback stated in another post (New 284 with FEL, Box blade, both the Turf tires and the Ag tires on separate rims, 2 full sets of tires). Can you now get separate ag and turf tires without changing the gearing?

Well I do not know why I would need to change gears, The tires are very close to the same size as the corresponding turf tire is. I do not lock in the 4WD unit unless I am in soft / slippery ground and actually need it. And so even if it was not a perfect match there would be enough slip in the contact with the surface to relive any pressure. Remember no matter how well you have sized your tires there is no such thing as a perfect match Wear / under or over inflation of the tires and other unknown factors make a perfect match impossible anyway. I used to be a member of a 4 wheel drive group many many years ago, and this subject would come up, Despite seeing guys run with almost flat tires, slightly mismatched sets and other problems we never had anyone do any damage to the rigs that could be contributed to this /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I did a little research last year and found that the rolling ratio is appx the same between the turfs and both sets of AG tires used on 200 series jinmas. There is no reference to different ratiosin the parts manuals and we have swtiched out ags for turf on 204 with small ag tires and 224 with the larger tires like the 254/284 use. So yes, you can have both on two sets of rims and mount up for the task at hand. Does not apply to 300 series tractors althoug I'd bet the ratio is the same there too.
