tired of patching my old massey hydralics

well i have had this old massey 231s with a front shaft driven pump to massey 232 loder for twenty years now and for the fourth time the splines between the pump and shaft have stripped can't figure why it keeps happening but tired of repairing any solutions out there ???

Check mounting and releif valve psi.

I believe the trick is to keep the splines greased with a heavy grease about once a year. when the splines dry out the little bit of play and steel on steel is a bad situation.

Do you have perfect alignment? I had a similar problem on a similar model and it turned out the mounting bracket for the front mount pump was slightly off and that made the splines take up the difference. The splines would wear the teeth out until one time the pulley off of the engine broke. The Massey dealer attached a different manufacturer's bracket and no problems since.

Alignment, vibrating, lubrication, type coupling., whether it be solid coupling, Love Joy coupling, etc.

Can you do a belt/pulley drive for the pump? That is how the hyd for my loader works.

All good advice about plus don't forget to replace the opposing mating female spline....many times it is worn too and accelerates the shaft wear on the pump
