Tire valve problem on loaded rear

I've got a 2011 Kioti CK20S HST with loaded rear industrial tires. The fluid is Rimguard beet extract. I just tried to check rear tire pressure and the Schrader valve came apart in my hand, spraying me with beet juice. I didn't get a good look at it because I was focused on reinserting it to stop the spray hitting me in the face :licking:

It wasn't that the valve stem came out. It was more like the brass threaded section into which the valve stem threads had come apart from the rubber exterior tube. Is it possible that this is normal? A "feature"? Do liquid-filled tires use a different Schrader valve than normal air-filled tires?

IIRC they (Rim Guard) recommends all metal valve stems be installed before filling, the beet juice breaks down the rubber.

Hey, sticky stuff isn't it. Mine is just like yours. First there is an outer valve stem, then an inner valve stem and the valve core is inside the inner stem. The valve core is a normal core. A hint - when checking air pressure - be sure the valve is at the 12 'O clock position - blow a small blast of air into the tire a couple times to clear any rim guard that may be in the stem. Sounds like your outer stem is rubber - then brass - then the core. My outer stem is brass.

And yes - I think most tractor tires have a outer stem that is the "hard lock" onto the rim and an inner stem that holds the valve core and screws into the outer stem.

Last time I checked my air pressure - one of the cores was leaking, chunk of pooo lodged in the core and it wouldn't seal. I got hosed down pretty good.

This is a typical tractor core insert. Did yours look anything like?

Funny just changed all 4 cores in our calcium filled tires today, got to change them yearly to ovoid issues.

Winmac - the link you posted goes to the "unit" I call the inner valve stem. The valve core screws inside this and then this entire "unit" screws into an outer stem. Seems a lot more complicated than necessary - I guess there must be a good reason for it all.

I changed the cores annually on my previous tractor - it had calcium filled rears and that stuff was murder on cores.

Only reason I see for It all is to give you a bigger opening to get the fluid in the tire.

Thanks guys. I'll jack up the tractor to unweight the tire and take a closer look. BTW, Rimguard does not taste like beets! :laughing:
