I am NOT in the market for another cutter, but am kinda curious about this.

I saw an ad for a Super-Duty rotary cutter. It eliminates shearbolts, belts and slip clutches by using a pneumatic tire as the blade drive. It is marketed by a Mexican company. This sounds very different than anything I have heard of before. I can think of both advantages and disadvantages for this type of design. Anyone have any firsthand knowledge of this type of cutter?

Here is a link to their prices, and yes these are US dollars. I switched to Euro and back to confirm.

No first hand knowledge but that design has been around for quite awhile. The pic below is one that popped up on a craigslist sometime ago. I understand they can slip a good bit if you cut when the grass is pretty wet.

There is/used to be a brand of cutter in the US called a Sidewinder, it used a tire drive like that. Been around for at least 30yrs, still see some around here. I've never used one so I can't comment on the operation of one.
