You guys have advise on how to dispose of old tractor tires (legally)? I tried giving them away as sandboxes. No go. I tried the local tire disposal day. Noop. They said they don't take commercial tires. I have 12 of them.

I'm all ears........

I'll try again. They wern't too nice last time. They reminded me the fine for dumping is $300 per tire.

Ask a local tire dealer. They have to dispose of their tires somehow and hopefully tell you the company they use. I would guess it will probably cost you a bit to get rid of 12 tractor tires.

Our county has a tire amnesty day once or twice a year, but they generally set limits on how many and what kind as well.

Do you have a brush pile that needs to be burned? I'm all for doing the right thing and recycle if they will let you, but it seems you have tried with no luck. I say, burn baby burn!

cut the bead out.
cur them in half so you have 2 donuts.
stack one donut inside the other.
use as earth anchor in an erosion gully.
set one on the bottom, stake with rebar, fill with dirt, stack next one, repeat until you're about 12" from the top and cover with topsoil. Stepping back 18-24" per tire helps build a stable slope as well.

We have a tire shredding plant here in Jacksonville, but I don't know if they take tractor tires. They also make that rubber mulch.

Aggiehortguy91 suggested asking a tire dealer. They should be able to help you out by adding your's to their's. Hopefully you would just have to pay their cost. Place that sells tractor tires would be able to handle that or maybe just a dealer you have dealt with.

But I might continue to gently try the local government offices to see what they suggest. Make sure they understand you are not commerical but just trying to do the right thing with problem you inherited.
