tire cracks filler

   / tire cracks filler #21
I have no experience using any fillers, but the "run them until they fail" thought seems to have worked for a lot of farmers over the years. I've seen some very ugly looking tires run a L---O---N---G time before failing.

As long as you keep them away from sunlight and the weather in a barn, they seem to go into suspended animation. A coating of something non-silicone, like tire black helps them out.

Could someone tell me if there is a product on the market that I could use to fill the cracks in a tire that has developed at the base of the tire tread. I would like to fill the cracks with a gluing agent to bond it back together. Thanks in advance
Shoe Goo from Walmart. Just fill the crack and let set up for a day. Not a very mechanical bond, but good for show and tell. Or leave as is and run it for the next 15 or 20 years like I do on my old Farmall C's

Good old fashion Black shoe polish will give you are nice look , not too shiny and waterproof as well

As rScotty mentioned, Permatex Gasket Maker works perfectly as far I I can tell. I scratched the sidewall of the big tire on some rebar and it filled it perfectly a couple years ago. Looke like part of the tire.

Don’t bother fixing that. You’ll be surprised how long these tractor tires still go with these cracks and even large chunks missing.
Unless it goes to a tractor show, don’t bother fixing superficial stuff. Same as big rock slashes in the tire tread.
Had original front tires on a 45 year old tractor before. Looked awful, but worked perfectly fine.

I have to agree with DieselMonk. Those tires go for years with chunks missing. You wouldn't believe the tires on my personal tractors. I just replaced one pair a few years ago because they were 2 different sizes and I had a nicer set that I could put on it. One of the old ones had several lugs completely gone. And it had a hole so big the tube was coming out. I put a piece of tire in it to cover the hole and bolted it in, and drove it that way for a couple years. It's still out in the field on the rim and I could probably still use it. One of my other tractors has one tire where the entire tread is breaking loose from the tire. There is a big crack the whole way around the tire. Been that way for years and it's still going. The thing with tractors is, they don't go down the interstate at 70 mph. A flat tire isn't a really big deal.
