Chains tire chains

Following advice from my earlier post on "front weights", I decided to go the chain route instead. I got a set of front and rear chains from BB chain. Got them to my tractor, and of course they don't fit. The rear chains are the right width but are probably a foot too long. The front chains interfere with the steering arms.

Time to take them back and try again. I'll ask them to fit them to a 2910 or 2710 with R4s on the lot and call me when they have something that works.

I'm sure I can solve the rear wheel problem. The chains could be cut if push comes to shove. But I'm concerned about the front.

Is anyone out there running front chains on a 2910 or 2710 with R4 tires? I don't see how to get anything other than a dog leash sized chain on the fronts without getting wheel spacers.

There a some threads about the use of front tire chains,you may want to check it out.
Most of the dealers warn not to run front tire chains due to damage that could happen.

What type of tire chains did you purchase for the rear..reg,rings,ice bars etc..

I got conventional roller chain for the back. It's a ladder configuration with the cross chains every 4 links.

I went back to BB chain today while waiting for the storm that never was. Turns out I was supposed to cut down the rear chains to fit. Not a problem, I just didn't want to cut and then own the wrong chains.

The advice from my dealer is the same - avoid chains on the front since it can cause damage to the front end. I'll try the rears and see how it goes. I might add cross chains so they are every 2 links in the rear.
