Chains Tire Chains on mid fram John Deere

/ Tire Chains on mid fram John Deere #11
I have filled R4s on my TC 30 and I added rear chains in December. I spent an afternoon adjusting the chains and the sway bars to keep the chains from hitting the fenders and 3pt hitch. Some part of the chains fall in the treads on the R4s but there are still areas covered by the chain. I noticed a big difference in traction with the chains. The chains came in handy this past weekend when we got ice, sleet, and snow. I would have to recommend tire chains. You never know when you may need tire chains and for the price it's cheap insurance.

Believe me, the bumpy ride with chains on R4's is evidence the cross links don't get lost in the 'bars'. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I use 4wd when using chains too. I don't chain up the front wheels as the rear chains are sufficient when on ice and snow. I could not retrieve wood if I didn't have the chains on the rear wheels. Tried it without them, and the ice underneath the snow was too slick, with weight in the tires and a full pallet of wood on the forks on the 3pt. Snow plow on the front for front weight. Without the ice, would not need the chains.
